Chestnut Carbon (“Chestnut”), a leading developer of nature-based carbon removal solutions, is proud to announce the delivery of Improved Forest Management (IFM) credits to Sol Systems for the second consecutive year, continuing to advance the company’s commitment to driving lasting economic and environmental benefits through community reinvestment.
Sol Systems, a leading national clean energy developer and independent power producer (IPP), first partnered with Chestnut in 2025 to offset emissions tied to construction of their Prairie Creek solar project in Illinois. In 2026, the IFM credits purchased from Chestnut will offset Sol Systems’ corporate footprint, as well as emissions tied to construction of their Tilden and Eldorado I and II solar projects in Illinois.
Both companies share a similar project design framework, acting as stewards of the land and building environmentally responsible projects with benefits to the local ecosystem and economy. Chestnut’s IFM program enables private forest landowners across the United States to access carbon credit markets, creating a new, reliable source of revenue to help cover taxes, forest management costs, and long-term planning efforts while reducing dependence on timber markets.
Chestnut’s footprint in the Midwest provides Sol Systems with an opportunity to invest in high-quality carbon projects that deliver measurable benefits in the same region where its clean energy projects are built.
Hear from multi-generational Wisconsin landowners enrolled in the project:
“It’s an honor to continue to supporting Sol Systems as they develop U.S.-based clean energy projects in a thoughtful, community-centered way. We share a belief that sustainable infrastructure should deliver meaningful local benefits, and we’re excited to keep advancing the vision,” said Brian DiMarino, Chief Operating & Commercial Officer, Chestnut.
“At Sol Systems, our work is rooted in the belief that clean energy should strengthen both communities and the ecosystems that support them. Sourcing high-quality, local IFM credits from Chestnut allows us to extend the impact of our work beyond clean energy generation – supporting responsible land stewardship, local economic resilience, and measurable environmental benefits in the regions where we operate,” said Juliana Isaac, Director of Sustainability and Ecosystem Impact, Sol Systems.
