To highlight these unique relationships, we are kick-starting an Installer Spotlight Series! For nearly a decade, Sol Systems has partnered with Solar Energy World, a Maryland based solar installation company who has consistently ranked highly on Solar Power World magazine’s yearly edition of the Top 400 North American Solar Contractors List. To begin this series, we spoke with Summer Crosby, the Operations Manager for Solar Energy World about her team’s daily responsibilities around moving their customers through the installation process and beyond.
1. How does Solar Energy World differentiate itself in the industry and how has that shaped your role?
Solar Energy World (SEW) has been in business since 2009 and we currently operate in the MD, DC, VA, PA, NJ, and FL markets. The SEW mission, “is to give more people the power to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels to foster financial and environmental security for their children and grandchildren. We’re in this business because we believe tomorrow matters.” 9 years ago, I came across an opening on the SEW team. The prospect of working in renewable energy was always interesting to me because it is a progressive and an important initiative. I really enjoy helping the team to reach their goals and assisting our customers in the best possible way that we can.
2. What is a typical day in the life at Solar Energy World?
At SEW we do not subcontract any work; we have fully staffed installation team dedicated to providing every customer with a best-in-class solar installation process. Our Operations, Sales, Service, and Monitoring teams are focused on ensuring all customers questions are answered and their installation process is smooth from start to finish. We have a lot of strategic planning work to do and we work to ensure that the team is motivating each other during every step of the installation process. We celebrate our wins and work to create a happy and positive work environment.
3. How has an SREC partnership with Sol Systems helped Solar Energy World customers on their solar journey?
Right from the start of the sales process, our team includes the SREC sale as a part of their pitch. Doing this, we set the customer up early with the notion that they will be eligible to work with Sol Systems after receiving the final Permission to Operate notice from their utility company. Sol Systems has guided us through any market-specific requirements and promptly answered questions. Their team has also positively accepted our feedback and suggestions, additionally our mutual customers are updated regularly if there are any outstanding items on their SREC application, it is a true partnership. The Sol Systems team answers each customer inquiry with a helpful and friendly tone, they are always willing to help!
4. Are there any notable stories that customers have about reacting to Sol Systems’ service or products?
One of our solar homeowners switched from a different SREC broker to Sol Systems for his home because of Sol’s excellent service. Additionally, we chose Sol Systems as the SREC broker for the PV system on our Headquarters’ building in Elkridge, MD.
5. Does Solar Energy World offer a referral program for installation customers?
We do offer a cash-reward referral program
for customers and non-customers alike. We have found that our customers are
more likely to refer us because of our high quality of service rather than
getting an incentive but either way, we have a dedicated customer service team
to take incoming requests and offer the ability to meet new customers in person
