Last month, many of our employees joined in supporting renewable energy by running the CELI Run for Clean Energy 5k – a race sponsored and led by Sol Systems – in Washington, D.C. Next Wednesday, July 13th, we will be heading across the country to San Francisco to step up to another starting line at the Sol Systems’ Run for the Sun Benefitting CALSEIA.

The course along the San Francisco Bay gives runners some of the most iconic views along the waterfront, including the AT&T Park, Bay Bridge, Ferry Building, South Beach Harbor, and Cupid’s Span. Taking place right in the middle of Intersolar North America, this race is a perfect way to break up your week and show your support for solar. If you want more information about the race or are interested in signing up, you can find more details here.

What do Californians and solar supporters have in common? They both love clean air! This fun run is a great way to meet supporters of solar energy and an eco-friendly community. Motivating you to run a little faster and push a little harder, the first, second, and third place male and female individual runners and teams will receive a prize! Some prizes include Patagonia gear, wearable fitness tracker, and tickets to a baseball game. Results will be posted online and at the CALSEIA California Pavilion exhibition following the race, so we look forward to seeing some fast racers out there.

Get an exhilarating workout, add another dri-fit tee to your race shirt collection, and potentially win some awesome prizes. As an added bonus, this run will benefit CALSEIA, the California Solar Energy Industries Association. Through the outlets of policy development, advocacy, education, networking, and business services, CALSEIA works to increase the use of solar energy within the state of California. They have been instrumental in assisting the passing of policies that have made the open solar market possible in California and have helped to turn it into one of the most successful solar states in the United States.

Along these lines, Sol Systems is always taking steps – on and off the racetrack – to impact our communities in a positive way. We pride ourselves on our “Giving That Matters” program – a way for the company to engage with outside organizations and groups to provide time and resources to give back. This mindset of giving back is one of the reasons that we are so excited to be the main supporter of the Run for the Sun 5k. This isn’t the first time we have made an impact through fitness – just last fall, we hosted the Run for SOLar 5k during the Solar Power International Conference that raised over $9,000 for The Solar Foundation and GRID Alternatives.

Through the “Giving That Matters” initiative, Sol Systems provides resources to organizations improving the social, economic, and environmental climates of the local communities where we live and work. Additionally, we donate financial and human capital to organizations focused on expanding solar in the U.S. Some of the organizations we have worked with are The Anacostia Watershed, Salvation Army, Capital Area Food Bank, The Solar Foundation, GRID Alternatives, Clean Energy Leaders InstituteGolden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and many more.

There is still time left and space available, so sign up now for the Run for the Sun 5k. Take advantage of the chance to run a great course with a group of people who are all embracing solar. We look forward to having a big impact and are excited to see you there.
