Onsite and Offsite

Our customers secure solar power either from an onsite facility or from an offsite or remote location depending on their specific needs and constraints. Selecting the optimal strategy requires careful analysis that should begin with the highest level considerations:


An onsite solar installation generates power directly consumed by a customer organization. It can be installed on rooftops, parking lots, or an adjacent ground space.

Organizations can either own a solar installation if they have the cash and the ability to use the tax benefits, or they can buy the energy through a power purchase agreement (PPA) with zero capital investment. Solar PPAs offer immediate savings, and lock in electricity rates for 15 to 20 years, delivering predictability and protecting the customer’s bottom line.


If building an installation at a facility is not possible due to reasons like space constraints, structural issues, or roof age, or an organization is using more energy than an onsite installation can provide, a remote PPA is a great option.

Through a remote PPA, the customer can buy clean energy from a solar array at an offsite location and benefit from electricity savings from day one or a hedge against volatile energy prices. Offsite systems tend to be larger systems that can enable organizations to procure a greater proportion of their energy needs and sustainability goals.
