Nothing like a little workplace competition to raise the bar for giving: This month, the competitive spirit at Sol Systems translated into 414 pounds of food donated to the Capital Area Food Bank (CAFB).
CAFB is dedicated to feeding those who suffer from hunger in the Washington metro area and is a member of Feeding America, a network of 200 food banks around the country. Working with CAFB is a no-brainer; Sol Systems is committed to “Giving that Matters,” and supporting local non-profits that impact under-served communities is part of that mission.
The goal was to beat last year’s donation, and Sol staff stepped up to the challenge more than doubling the 180 pounds collected in 2013. Tapping into the competitive energy around the office, staff banded together in teams competing to raise the most food per capita among the teams. The result? In total, Sol raised 414 pounds of food, enough to feed over 20 families for several days.
At Sol, we’re always proud of the work we do for the solar industry. Today, we’re proud to round out 2014 by giving back to our community.
