Sol Systems Welcomes Summer Interns

Sol Systems welcomes four interns for the summer.

Sol Systems is excited to welcome, from left to right, Erica Nangeroni, Rachel Charow, Thomas Kinrade, Aaditya Saple, and Julia Heckmann (not pictured).

At Sol Systems, our number one asset is our team. We are proud of our internship program which provides young people with an opportunity to launch a career in renewable energy. This summer, we are excited to welcome Rachel Charow, Julia Heckmann, Thomas Kinrade, Erica Nangeroni, and Aaditya Saple to our team.

Rachel Charow joins Sol Systems as a Solar Analyst Intern, where she assists the SREC operations team on meter reading data analysis and processing customer registrations. She also has been conducting research on various solar policy and project finance topics. Previously, Ms. Charow interned at Conservation International, supporting the U.S. Government Policy team and performing conservation fieldwork in Costa Rica. As a research fellow and head intern for the Georgetown University Office of Sustainability, Ms. Charow has led projects on water and waste management. Ms. Charow will be a senior at Georgetown University where she is pursuing a degree in Mathematics with minors in Economics and Environmental Studies.

Julia Heckmann joined the Sol Systems team in January as a Solar Analyst Intern and returns this summer, continuing with conducting policy research and assisting to expand the company’s outreach to strategic partners. She will also be conducting research on solar’s potential role in providing ancillary services to independent system operators. Ms. Heckmann previously worked on the International Climate Negotiations team at the German Ministry of the Environment. She also worked for GIZ, Germany’s principle development agency, supporting the development of new business models for the cooperation of GIZ with emerging economies. Ms. Heckmann holds a Bachelor of Arts from the Dresden University of Technology, Germany, where she studied international relations and Russian. She recently graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies with a Master of Arts in international economics and energy studies.

Thomas Kinrade joins the Sol Systems team as a Project Finance intern, helping to expand the company’s outreach to strategic investors.  He will also be conducting research on how utility rate structures impact the value of photovoltaic systems for commercial customers. Mr. Kinrade previously worked as a consultant at Ernst & Young on issues surrounding mineral taxation and the international business climate. He also worked at JP Morgan Private Bank managing lines of credit for high net worth clients.  Mr. Kinrade holds a Bachelor of Arts from Haverford College, where he studied economics. He is currently a Masters candidate at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies where he is specializing in energy studies and international economics.

Erica Nangeroni joins Sol Systems as a Solar Analyst Intern, assisting both the project finance and SREC teams with market efforts, upkeep of registration materials, and research on solar policy and project finance. She will also be conducting research on the potential role for solar in the ancillary service market. Ms. Nangeroni previously worked on the Business Development team at Enel Green Power North America, assisting with the development of a pipeline of wind, solar, and hydro assets through market research and due diligence efforts while also concentrating on east coast solar projects. Ms. Nangeroni holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College, where she studied Biology and Environmental Studies.

Aaditya Saple joins the Sol Systems team as a SREC Portfolio Intern, supporting the SREC Portfolio team with SREC position strategy models, industry research, and internal operations. Prior to joining Sol Systems, Mr. Saple worked as a commodity trader and as a liaison in the controller’s office at Siemens. He has also spent time in Mendoza, Argentina where he worked with IMPSA, a leading Argentine wind manufacturer, for their market expansion strategy in Latin America. Mr. Saple is currently a graduate student at The George Washington School of Business where he is on the board of the Energy Group and is also pursuing a concentration in Data Analytics.
