Safely Sustainable – Sol Systems Volunteers with the Rock Creek Conservancy

2020 has been quite the challenging year, but our team has stayed committed to its volunteering efforts and sustainable practices. This past week, Sol Systems volunteered with the Rock Creek Conservancy to help clean-up the national park that is paramount to our headquarters in Washington, D.C. The event was organized by members of the Sustainability Task Force (STF) to further establish our commitment to corporate sustainable goals and initiatives.

The Sol Team volunteered to pick up trash at one of the park’s busiest picnic areas. The entire event required masks and social distancing. A small, voluntary group of Sol employees attended the event to enjoy the brisk fall air, pick up debris, and enjoy one another’s company while observing proper social distancing. The team collected over five trash bags of rummage over the course of our time volunteering in efforts to protect the water shed from becoming polluted.

Rock Creek Conservancy is the sole proprietor of the 33-mile-long creek that spans through the District of Columbia and Maryland. The organization strives to bring awareness, education, outreach and volunteering efforts for the park and all its inhabitants. Because of the national park’s uproar in pedestrian traffic due to COVID-19, volunteering efforts are more important than ever to protect and clean-up Rock Creek.
